Nov 25, 2002 # alter ego

I bet you didn't know about my alter-ego as Billy Fields, R&B funk keyboardist extraordinaire!

Nov 23, 2002 # Bowling for Columbine

Everyone needs to see Bowling for Columbine. It's highly entertaining, funny, sad, and extremely eye-opening. Find out where it is playing near you.

Nov 20, 2002 # best places to live

"The UN's Human Development Report, ranks 173 countries for their quality of life, using indicators such as life expectancy and income per person."

Here is the chart for the top 15 according to the 2002 report. Norway takes the #1 spot, followed by Sweden, Canada, Belgium, Australia, and then the United States, which is #6.

Nov 20, 2002 # an animal's place

This is the most thorough, fair, and well-written article on animal rights I have read so far:

An Animal's Place by Michael Pollan

Nov 20, 2002 # phoenix

I have been using a new web browser called Phoenix. It's compact, pretty fast, it's free, and it has some great features that the other browsers don't. It has pop-up blocking (no more pop ups ads!), you can easily block images from particular servers (read: ad servers), and it has tabbed browsing, which allows you to have multiple webpages open in the same window. You can also create groups of bookmarks and do "open in tabs" which opens all the bookmarks at once. This is great for daily browsing habits... just hit ctrl-w to move to the next page.

Nov 20, 2002 # random household tip of the day

Random household tip of the day:

If you live in a house with radiator heat, point a fan at the radiator and turn it on when the heat comes on. It will make the room nice and toasty, and it is probably more energy efficient.

Nov 13, 2002 # new live jam

Here is a live jam/improvisation I recorded using my new music system:

Live 11-13-2002

Keep in mind that NO sequencing was involved, it was recorded in one take with no editing or multitracking, and everything is being controlled by me in real-time. All notes and melodies are being generated on the fly under my guidance.

Nov 01, 2002 # water computer

I swear to god, one time when I was bored at my grandparents house, I designed a computer (or at least some basic logic gates) that would run on water and gravity instead of electricity. Apparently some dude at MIT had a similar idea and actually built the damn thing!
